As I came into work this morning I was surprised to find this beauty sitting on the shop floor. As I had heard the Pontiac name before but did not know what car it was or where it came from. After this conundrum and asking the shop manager what year and make the car was I went off to do some research regarding this beautiful automobile. I ended up finding out a lot about this specific 1971 Pontiac Firebird - Formula 400. Here are my top seven facts about the Pontiac that I bet you wont know.

1. The 71' Pontiac came in four different types; Coupe, Esprit, Formula 400 and the Trans Am. With the most common being the Coupe with 23,021 being made to date. 2. The car came with 15 different exterior colors including such classics as; Quezal Gold, Laurentian Green, Adriatic Blue and the color the car picture below Cardinal Red.

3. There were five different V8's to be chosen from starting 350ci going up to 455ci spurting out a modest 335Hp

4. The Pontiac could be purchased with a 3 speed transmission, 4 speed transmission Heavy Duty 4-Speed Manual, 3-Speed Turbo Hydra-MaticH.D or a 3-Speed Manual

5. The car was late to production with the new striking car was “a muscle car with styling that looked as if it had been designed in Italy.”

6. Trans Am that was as quick as the best '70 models. Demand for such performance was about to bottom out. But among cars born of the muscle car age, only Trans Am would survive through the dark ages of the late 1970s and 1980s with its reputation intact. Pontiac always found a way.

7. It's an awesome looking car in my opinion with that muscle look twin scoops on the bonnet, not as popular as the Mustangs it is a highly underrated car and is fast becoming one of my favorite cars!
